Turkey Tour 2004

Departing Kusadasi, we headed west toward Konya, Cappadocia, and Ankara. Our first stop was the archaeological site of Laodicea, where excavations have barely begun but have preserved a handy shade tree under which Tansu could give us one of her inimitable history lectures.

Our bus was unable to park on our drive through the necropolis at Hieropolis, but we paid a brief visit to the city itself, of which we saw very little due to scheduling constraints and bus trip fatigue.

We did get to go wading in the hot springs of Pamukkale before checking into our hotel.
